Stratford-upon-Avon Port Transfer

Need to get from Stratford-upon-Avon to a UK cruise port, or back again once you're off the ship? That's the job here. The Royal Britain Airport Transfer runs private transfers between Stratford-upon-Avon and ports like Southampton and Portsmouth, door to door, one driver, one car, no changing halfway.
Quick thing to clear up first: Stratford-upon-Avon isn't a cruise port. No terminal here. This page is about the transfer itself, from the town to wherever your ship is actually sailing from.

Stratford-upon-Avon Cruise Port Transfers

Two kinds of people tend to book this. Visitors staying in Stratford-upon-Avon, often as part of a longer trip round Warwickshire and the Cotswolds, need to get down to the coast for a set sailing time. And locals who'd rather not deal with their own car or the train to reach the port. Same service either way: pickup from your address in or around Stratford-upon-Avon, straight to the terminal, then the same thing in reverse once the cruise is done.

Stratford-upon-Avon to Southampton Cruise Port

Southampton's the bigger of the two ports and the one most people ask about first. Figure on 105 to 120 miles depending on the route, call it 2 to 2 and a half hours on the road. That's a rough figure rather than a guarantee, the M40 and M25 can add time on a bad day, so build in some slack if you've got an early check-in.
There are actually five terminals at Southampton, QEII, Ocean, City, Mayflower and Horizon, so just tell us which one when you book and the driver goes straight there instead of "Southampton" in a general sense. Return legs can be booked at the same time as the outward trip. Full detail on the port is on the Southampton Cruise Port transfer.

Stratford-upon-Avon to Portsmouth Cruise Port

Portsmouth's a bit further out, usually 115 to 135 miles, somewhere around 2 and a half to 3 hours. Some cruise lines sail from here instead of Southampton, so it may just be where your particular ship happens to be. Only one terminal though, which makes it a touch simpler, no working out which building you actually need.
Same setup as Southampton beyond that: fare fixed up front, driver waiting for you with a name board on the way back. The Portsmouth Cruise Port transfer has more if you want it.
Sailing from somewhere else entirely? Ask us, we might still be able to help, and we cover Dover as well.

Why Book a Private Transfer Instead of the Train?

There's no direct train between Stratford-upon-Avon and either port. You'll be changing somewhere along the way, Leamington Spa, Oxford, Reading, that kind of thing, and once you add the waiting around it can easily run past four hours. That's before you've dragged suitcases up and down a few platforms.
A transfer skips all of that. Fixed time, one car, door to door, no worrying about a missed connection. It's often not much more than what you'd pay for a couple of weeks of port parking anyway, if driving yourself was the alternative.

What's Included

Fare agreed before you travel. A driver for the whole journey rather than a shuffle of different cars. Meet and greet at the terminal on the way home, with your driver waiting at the agreed point. Help with the bags, both ends.

Pickup From Hotels, Homes and Local Addresses

Hotels and guest houses in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre, holiday cottages out in the villages, or just your own front door, wherever you're actually staying, that's where we'll collect you. Near Shakespeare's Birthplace, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, coming off a train at Stratford-upon-Avon station before your cruise, doesn't matter which. Just give us the address when you book.

Families, Groups and Luggage

Cruise luggage is usually more than your average taxi trip, which is why the vehicles range from a standard saloon right up to minibuses. A family with several suitcases each won't be stuck trying to fit everything into something too small. Child seats, no extra charge, just ask when booking. Bigger group travelling together? Let us know the numbers and luggage in advance and we'll put the right vehicle forward.

Return Cruise Port Transfers to Stratford-upon-Avon

Book both legs together if your dates are already set. For the way back, the ship name and expected disembarkation time are genuinely useful to us, cruise schedules shift more than people expect, sometimes earlier, sometimes later, and knowing roughly when to plan for means less guesswork on the pickup. Plans change closer to the day? Just tell us and we'll adjust where we can.

Have Any Questions?

Can I book a taxi from Stratford-upon-Avon to Southampton Cruise Port?

Yes, we cover all five Southampton terminals, QEII, Ocean, City, Mayflower and Horizon. Fare's fixed before you travel and it's door to door, so there's no working out which building to head for once you arrive.

How far is Southampton from Stratford-upon-Avon, and how long does it take

Roughly 105 to 120 miles depending on the route, usually 2 to 2 and a half hours by road. That's a guide rather than a promise, traffic on the M40 or M25 can add time, so leave a bit extra for an early check-in.

What about Portsmouth?

We Also covered. It's a little further out than Southampton, around 115 to 135 miles, typically 2 and a half to 3 hours. Same fixed-fare, door-to-door setup, and only one terminal to worry about.

Is a taxi actually easier than the train?

Usually, yes. There's no direct train from Stratford-upon-Avon to either port, so you're changing at least once, often at Leamington Spa, Oxford or Reading. Add waiting time and moving luggage between platforms, and the whole trip can take longer than just driving.

Can I bring several suitcases?

Yes, cruise luggage tends to be more than a normal taxi trip, so just tell us roughly how much you're bringing when you book. We'll put you in an estate car, MPV or minibus depending on the numbers.

Are child seats available?

Yes, free of charge, just ask when you book. Let us know your child's age so the right seat is ready for pickup.

What about larger groups or families travelling together?

That's fine too. Vehicles go up to minibus size, so a bigger group or a couple of families travelling together don't need to split across two separate cars.

Is the price actually fixed, or does it move with traffic?

We always provide fixed fare transfer from everywhere. Your fare is agreed before you travel based on your pickup address and terminal, and it doesn't change because of how the roads are on the day.
