Southampton Cruise Port Transfers

Getting to a cruise ship on time matters, there's no re-booking a missed departure, so the journey to Southampton Cruise Port needs to work first time. We run private, pre-booked transfers to and from the port, and the price you're quoted is the price you pay, agreed before you set off, not adjusted later because of traffic.
You can be picked up from any UK airport, a hotel in London or Hampshire, or Southampton Central Station, and we'll take you straight to your terminal door. Coming home after your cruise works exactly the same way, just in reverse.
Every booking is for your group only. We don't run shared shuttles, so there's no waiting around for other passengers and plenty of room for cruise-sized luggage.
Tell us your terminal and travel date, and we'll confirm a fixed price before you book anything.

Transfers To and From Southampton Cruise Port

It doesn't matter whether you're heading to Southampton to start a cruise, or coming home after one, the booking works the same way in either direction. You get one private vehicle, just for your party, from your pickup point to whichever of Southampton's five terminals your ship is using.
We collect from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, London City and Southampton Airport, as well as Central London, hotels across Hampshire, and Southampton Central Station. Wherever you're starting from, the same standard applies: a driver waiting with a name board, help with your luggage, and a vehicle that's just for you.
If you're flying in before your cruise, we track your flight in real time, so an early landing or a delay adjusts your pickup automatically. You don't need to call us to update anything, and you won't be charged extra because your flight ran late.

Getting to Southampton Cruise Port from UK Airports

Below are typical journey times for each UK airport route to Southampton. These are a guide based on normal traffic conditions, not a guarantee, since the M3, M27 and M25 can all slow down unexpectedly, especially around rush hour or a bank holiday weekend.

Heathrow to Southampton Cruise Port

Heathrow to Southampton is the shortest of the main airport routes, covering around 65 to 70 miles, mostly down the M3. On a normal day the drive takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours, though this can stretch a little longer during the Friday afternoon rush or a busy holiday weekend.
Because we track your flight number, it makes no difference whether you land early or your flight is delayed. Your driver already knows your updated arrival time before you've even reached passport control.

Gatwick to Southampton Cruise Port

Gatwick sits a little further from Southampton than Heathrow, at around 85 to 90 miles, running mostly along the M23 and then the M27. On a clear day you're looking at about 1 hour 45 minutes, but this can run closer to 2 hours 30 minutes at a busy time, particularly around the M25 interchange. The same flight tracking applies here, so a delayed landing won't leave you standing at arrivals wondering where your driver is.

Luton, Stansted and London City Airport to Southampton Cruise Port

These three airports all sit north or east of London, so the drive down to Southampton takes longer than from Heathrow or Gatwick. It's exactly the kind of route where a private transfer earns its keep, since public transport usually means at least one change of train in central London.
  • Luton: around 95 to 100 miles, usually 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Stansted: the furthest of the three, at 115 to 125 miles, allow 2 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours.
  • London City: about 100 miles, usually 2 to 2 and a half hours.
Whichever one you're flying into, the same fixed-price, flight-tracked service applies.

Southampton Airport to Southampton Cruise Port

This is by far the shortest route on this page, just 5 to 6 miles, usually no more than 15 to 20 minutes by road. It's still worth booking ahead if you're carrying cruise-sized luggage, so you're not trying to find a taxi the moment you land, especially if several flights have arrived around the same time.

Southampton Cruise Port to Airports and London

Every route above works just as well in reverse, at the same fixed price. Once you've disembarked, your driver will already be waiting to take you to Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, London City, Southampton Airport, or a hotel or address anywhere in London.
It's worth knowing that getting off a cruise ship isn't always instant. Disembarkation can be held up by bad weather, a slow customs process, or simply how many passengers are leaving the ship that day. If you've booked a flight for the same day, don't cut the timing too fine, particularly if you're not in one of the first groups called off the ship. Let us know your flight and sailing details when you book, and we'll build your pickup time around them.

Southampton Hotels, City Centre and Central Station to the Cruise Port

Plenty of passengers choose to stay in Southampton the night before a cruise, especially if they're flying in from further afield or just want one relaxed night before boarding. If that's you, or you're arriving by train, we can collect you from your hotel, the city centre, or Southampton Central Station and take you straight to your terminal.
The station is only about a mile from the port itself, which sounds like nothing, but the walk to your actual terminal can be a lot further than that suggests. City and Horizon are around a 15 minute walk from the station. Ocean, QEII and Mayflower are further out, more like 25 to 30 minutes on foot, not much fun with cases to carry. A short, pre-booked transfer removes that entirely.
Staying further out in Hampshire? Give us your postcode and we'll confirm a fixed fare from wherever you're staying.

Southampton's Five Cruise Terminals

Southampton operates five separate cruise terminals: QEII, Ocean, City, Mayflower and Horizon. What catches a lot of passengers out is that cruise lines aren't tied to one specific terminal, the same ship might sail from Ocean Terminal one month and Mayflower the next, and your own booking can shift terminal between your original confirmation and your final e-ticket.
It's always worth checking your most recent e-ticket rather than relying on an older confirmation or what you remember from last time. The terminal names alone can cause confusion too, QEII and Horizon, for example, sit on opposite sides of the port.
None of this complicates your transfer with us. Tell us the terminal you've been given, or let us know if it changes, and your driver will take you straight there.

Vehicles for Families, Groups and Luggage

Our vehicles range from a 4 seat saloon car right up to a 24 seat coach, so whether you're travelling alone with a single case, or you're part of a larger family or group, there's a vehicle that actually fits your party and your luggage. Full passenger numbers, luggage allowances and child seat availability for each class are listed on our Fleet page.
Child seats are available free of charge, you just need to ask for one when you book. Families travelling with the usual amount of cruise-holiday luggage tend to find our 6 seat MPV or 7 seat Executive People Carrier more comfortable, since a standard saloon can feel tight once the bags are loaded.
Give us an honest luggage count when you book, including hand luggage, so we send a vehicle with room for everything.

Planning Your Southampton Cruise Transfer

Traffic on the M3, M27 and M25 can be genuinely hard to predict, and Southampton's cruise terminals get busy around the most popular boarding windows, so it's always worth allowing more time than feels strictly necessary. Cruise lines set a firm cut-off time for boarding and won't hold the ship for late passengers, so if you're heading to the port for a departure, aim to arrive comfortably ahead of that deadline.
Flying in before a cruise, we track your flight and adjust your pickup automatically, but there's a limit to what that can fix. A flight delayed close to your sailing time is a genuine risk no transfer company can fully protect you against. If your connection looks tight, it's often worth an earlier flight, or building in a buffer day in Southampton before you sail.

Cruise Lines Sailing from Southampton

Southampton is the busiest cruise port in the UK, and a genuine home port for several major cruise lines. Regular sailings run from P&O Cruises, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line and Fred Olsen, among others, covering everything from short European breaks to longer transatlantic voyages.
Disney Cruise Line has also joined the port more recently, with Disney Dream running seasonal sailings from Southampton through summer 2026.
Whichever line and ship you're sailing with, tell us the name, your sailing date, and your terminal if you have it, and we'll match you to the right spot on the day.

How to Book Your Southampton Cruise Port Transfer

Have Any Questions?

How much is a taxi to Southampton Cruise Port?

The exact price depends on where you're travelling from, which vehicle you need, and the time of day you're travelling. Rather than quote one figure that won't apply to most journeys, we confirm your fixed price at the point you get a quote, based on your actual pickup and drop-off. There's no meter and no surge pricing, so the figure you're shown is exactly what you pay.

How long does Heathrow to Southampton Cruise Port take?

On a normal day, the journey takes around 1 hour 20 minutes to 2 hours, covering roughly 65 to 70 miles mostly along the M3. Rush hour, particularly on a Friday, tends to push journeys towards the longer end, while an off-peak trip is usually closer to the shorter end. Whatever your landing time turns out to be, we track your flight, so your driver already knows when to expect you.

How long does Gatwick to Southampton Cruise Port take?

Most journeys from Gatwick to Southampton Cruise Port take between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes, covering around 85 to 90 miles. Traffic around the M25 and M27 interchange is usually the main factor that pushes a journey towards the longer end. As with every airport route we cover, your flight is tracked automatically, so a delayed landing doesn't change your booking or your price.

Which cruise terminal will my ship use at Southampton?

It could be any of Southampton's five terminals: QEII, Ocean, City, Mayflower or Horizon. Cruise lines move between terminals depending on which ships are in port on a given day, so the terminal on your original booking confirmation isn't always the one you'll actually use. The safest way to check is your final e-ticket, issued closer to your sailing date. Once you know your terminal, just pass it on to us.

Do Southampton cruise port transfers include luggage, and can I bring a child seat

Yes to both. The luggage you can bring depends on the vehicle you choose, our saloon and executive cars are set up for 2 checked bags and 2 pieces of hand luggage, while larger vehicles like our estate, MPV, minibus and coach offer considerably more space. Child seats are provided free of charge, you simply need to request one when you book, and let us know if you need more than one.

What happens if my flight is delayed before my cruise?

Because we track your flight in real time, your pickup time adjusts automatically if you're delayed, so you won't be left waiting or charged extra for a late landing. What we can't do is guarantee you'll still make your ship's boarding cut-off if the delay turns out to be a long one, since that depends on the cruise line's own deadline, not on us. If your connection looks tight, build in some extra time.

Is there a taxi from Southampton train station to the cruise terminal?

Yes, and it's worth pre-booking rather than hoping for one on the day. Southampton Central Station is about a mile from the port as the crow flies, but the actual walk to your specific terminal can take anywhere from 15 minutes to as much as 25 to 30 minutes, depending on which terminal you're heading to. A short, pre-booked transfer avoids that walk entirely, especially with cruise luggage.

Can I book a return Southampton cruise transfer?

Yes, and many passengers book both directions in one go, particularly if their travel dates and terminal are already confirmed. If your return details aren't settled yet, that's not a problem, you can book your outbound journey now and add the return leg later. Either way, both journeys are priced and confirmed the same way, with a fixed fare agreed before you travel.
