Why Choose The Royal Britain Airport Transfer for Heathrow?

Heathrow is the busiest airport in the UK, split across four working terminals that are, in places, a genuine 20 to 30 minute internal transfer apart from each other. Getting your pickup point, your timing and your route right matters more here than at almost any other UK airport, so here's exactly what you get when you book with us.

  • Fixed prices, agreed upfront. Your fare covers the journey, standard tolls, and Heathrow's terminal charges. You won't be asked for anything extra at the forecourt.

  • Licensed, experienced drivers who know the difference between a Terminal 3 pickup and a Terminal 5 one, and won't send you to the wrong side of the airport.

  • Real-time flight monitoring on every pickup, so your driver adjusts to your actual landing time, not the time your ticket says.

  • Meet & greet at every terminal, with your driver waiting inside the arrivals hall holding your name, ready to help with bags.

  • Free waiting time built in as standard, so you're not watching a clock while you clear immigration and baggage reclaim.

  • Door-to-door service, from your home, hotel or office straight to your terminal, and the same in reverse.

  • A modern, comfortable fleet, from saloon cars to minibuses and coaches, so the vehicle actually fits your group and your luggage.

  • Available 24 hours a day, every day, because Heathrow doesn't stop running and neither do we.

Heathrow Airport Transfer Services We Offer

  • Airport pickup (arrivals): standard or meet & greet, at any of the four terminals.

  • Airport drop-off (departures): timed to your check-in window, not just your flight time.

  • Hotel transfers: to and from any Heathrow-area or Central London hotel.

  • Business and corporate travel: punctual, professional transfers for meetings straight off a flight, with the option of a corporate account for regular travellers.

  • Family transfers: child seats available on request, and vehicles sized properly for buggies and extra luggage, not just passengers.

  • Executive travel: premium saloons and executive vehicles for clients who need the journey to match the occasion.

  • Student transfers: straightforward, fixed-price journeys for the start and end of term, including larger vehicles for excess luggage.

  • Cruise port connections: direct transfers between Heathrow and Southampton or Dover, timed around your embarkation window.

  • Long-distance transfers: beyond London, to towns and cities across the South East and further afield.

Heathrow Airport Terminals We Cover

Heathrow has four working terminals. Terminal 1 closed permanently in 2015, and the remaining four are spread further apart than most passengers expect. Getting the terminal right matters, so here's what to know for each one.

Terminal 2 (the Queen's Terminal) handles Star Alliance airlines including Lufthansa, United, Singapore Airlines and Air Canada. Your driver will meet you at the terminal's short-stay pickup area, or inside arrivals for meet & greet bookings.

Terminal 3 is home to Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, American Airlines, Delta and most other long-haul carriers outside the main alliances. It sits close to Terminal 2, sharing the same general pickup zone.

Terminal 4 serves SkyTeam airlines and several Gulf carriers, including Air France, KLM, Qatar Airways and Etihad. It's on the southern side of the airport, a genuine drive away from Terminals 2, 3 and 5, which is worth knowing if you're being met by someone who assumes "Heathrow" means one building.

Terminal 5 is the exclusive home of British Airways. It has its own pickup area, and if you're flying BA, your driver will already know to head straight there rather than the central terminal zone.

Wherever you land, tell us your terminal and flight number when you book, and we'll have your driver in the right place, at the right time, without you needing to think about it.

Popular Heathrow Transfer Routes

A few of the journeys we run every day. If you don't see yours listed, get in touch and we'll quote it directly.

  • Heathrow to Central London: roughly 15 to 20 miles, typically 45 to 75 minutes by road depending on traffic and your exact destination (Paddington, Victoria, the West End, the City).

  • Heathrow to Canary Wharf: around 20 miles, usually 50 to 70 minutes; a route where a direct transfer genuinely beats the train-plus-DLR alternative if you're carrying luggage.

  • Heathrow to Windsor: one of the shortest and most popular routes we run, around 10 miles and typically 20 to 25 minutes, ideal for visitors heading straight to Windsor Castle or a Berkshire hotel.

  • Heathrow to Reading: around 25 miles, roughly 35 to 45 minutes, a common route for business travellers and Thames Valley commuters.

  • Heathrow to Oxford: around 45 to 50 miles, typically 70 to 90 minutes depending on the M40/A40 traffic, popular with students, academic visitors and tourists.

  • Heathrow to Southampton Cruise Port: around 65 to 70 miles, usually 75 to 95 minutes, timed to your embarkation window so you're not cutting it fine on sailing day.

  • Heathrow to Dover Cruise Port: around 100 miles, typically 2 to 2.5 hours depending on the M25, a route worth booking well ahead of a ferry or cruise departure.

  • London to Heathrow: the reverse of the Central London route, priced and timed the same way for your outbound journey.

Why Book a Private Heathrow Transfer Instead of Public Transport?

Heathrow has genuinely good public transport. The Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express both reach Paddington quickly, and the Piccadilly line is the cheapest way into London by a distance. So it's a fair question: why pay for a private transfer at all?

Speed to a station isn't speed to your door: The Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express get you to Paddington fast, but from there you're on the Tube, in a cab, or walking with your bags to wherever you're actually staying. A private transfer is one journey, door to door, with no changes, no stairs, and no dragging a suitcase through a ticket barrier.

Traffic on the road is predictable; delays on the network aren't: A car in traffic is still moving. A cancelled train or a line closure at 11pm isn't, and Heathrow's rail options thin out late at night in a way a booked driver simply doesn't.

Groups and luggage change the maths: For one person with hand luggage, the Tube is genuinely the cheapest option and we won't pretend otherwise. For two or more people, or anyone with hold luggage, a private transfer very quickly becomes comparable in cost per person, and far more comfortable.

Families and business travellers have different priorities than price alone: A parent managing kids, a buggy and cases doesn't want three changes and a platform sprint. A business traveller landing before a meeting doesn't want to arrive creased, delayed or unsure which exit to take. Both are exactly what a private transfer is for.

Flight delays are handled, not punished: If your flight lands late, a train timetable doesn't care, but your driver does. We track your flight and adjust automatically, at no extra charge.

Meet & Greet Service

Landing somewhere as large as Heathrow for the first time, travelling with family, or simply wanting one less thing to think about after a long flight: meet & greet is built for exactly this.

Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall, not out at a distant pickup point, holding a clearly visible board with your name. As soon as we track your flight landing, your driver already knows and starts timing their arrival to you, not the other way round. Once you're through baggage reclaim, your driver helps with your bags and walks you straight to the vehicle. No wandering a car park looking for a licence plate, and no phone calls trying to describe where you're standing.

It's particularly worth choosing if you're travelling alone in an unfamiliar airport, arriving with young children, managing heavy or awkward luggage, or simply landing after a long-haul flight and wanting the easiest possible last leg of the journey.

Flight Monitoring

Every Heathrow pickup we run is tracked against your actual flight, not your scheduled time. If your flight lands early, your driver is ready early. If it's delayed, whether by weather, air traffic control, or anything else outside your control, your driver's arrival shifts with it automatically, at no extra cost to you.

This matters more at Heathrow than almost anywhere else in the UK, simply because of scale. With hundreds of arrivals a day across four terminals, "just wait outside" isn't a realistic plan, and knowing your driver is watching the same flight board you'd check yourself is one less thing to worry about mid-flight.

Our Vehicles

We size the vehicle to the journey, not the other way round.

  • Saloon: comfortable and efficient for up to 4 passengers with standard luggage.

  • Estate: the same passenger capacity with extra boot space for bulkier bags.

  • Executive: a premium saloon for business travel and clients who want the journey to match the occasion.

  • MPV (6-seater): for families or small groups travelling together with more luggage.

  • Executive people carrier (7-seater): a step up in comfort for larger groups or corporate travel.

  • Minibus (8 and 16-seater): for group transfers, events, and larger families.

  • Coach (24-seater): for large group and corporate bookings.

All vehicles are modern, air-conditioned, and maintained to a high standard. Child seats are available on request; just let us know when you book.

Have Any Questions?

How much does a transfer to Heathrow Airport cost?

Your fare is fixed and confirmed at the time of booking, so it doesn't change with traffic, waiting time, or airport tolls β€” these are already built into the price. There's no surge pricing, so the fare you're quoted online is exactly what you pay.

What's the difference between meet and greet and standard pick-up?

With standard pick-up, you head to the agreed meeting point after collecting your bags. With meet and greet, your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board and helps you with your luggage all the way to the vehicle β€” ideal for first-time visitors or anyone travelling with extra bags.

How much free waiting time is included after my flight lands?

International arrivals include 30 minutes of free waiting time, and domestic arrivals include 15 minutes, so there's no rush to get through immigration and baggage claim before your driver's ready.

What happens if my Heathrow flight is delayed or lands early?

Your flight is tracked in real time, so your pick-up time is automatically adjusted to match your actual landing time. You won't be charged extra for a delay that's outside your control.

How far is Heathrow Airport from Central London?

Heathrow sits around 15 miles west of Central London. By road, journeys into the city typically take roughly 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic and your exact destination.

Can I book a transfer between Heathrow and other UK airports or cities?

Yes β€” alongside transfers to and from Central London, airport-to-airport routes are available between Heathrow and Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol, plus long-distance journeys to cities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Brighton.

Does the price include the Heathrow drop-off charge and ULEZ?

Yes. Heathrow's Β£7 terminal forecourt charge and the London ULEZ are both already included in your fixed fare. Our fleet is fully ULEZ-compliant, so you're never charged separately for either.

Which terminal will my driver meet me at?

Tell us your flight number and terminal when you book (Terminal 2, 3, 4 or 5) and your driver will be waiting at the correct pickup point for that terminal specifically. Heathrow's terminals are spread out enough that "just Heathrow" isn't precise enough to work from.

Can you take me from Heathrow to Windsor, Oxford, Reading or the cruise ports?

Yes, these are among our most regular Heathrow routes. We quote them as a fixed price the same way as any other journey; see Popular Heathrow Transfer Routes above for typical times.
